Artist Statement:

Pressure was accomplished through a blend of analog and digital techniques. The elements used in my work were collage, cardboard, acrylic paint on paper, motion graphics, and artificial intelligence, all which were used to bring my collage to life. I started with a circle shaped piece of cardboard and cut out a variety of images; things like diverse human figures, alcohol and natural elements like mountains or bodies of water.

To transition the analog work into the digital realm, I photographed sections of the collage in Photoshop to isolate the images. I would then import the images to AI and guided the prompt using words like surrealism, melting, fire, and lightning. I worked hard in After Effects gaining awesome experience and learning a great deal about my composition and the powerful visual effects of the program. One of the least time consuming effects I created were the bubbles for my water scene, 36 seconds. The hardest one had to have been the particle zoom at 30 seconds. A few elements I identify with in my work is explores the search for meaning, the glitches of imperfect everyday life, the looming threat of climate change, exposure to addictive nature, and the overall corruption in our world.
