Artist Statement:
A glitch in the system was created with a variety of tools, primarily with Photoshop and Premier Pro. I started with the idea of how the U.S. government collects data by spying on individuals. This idea really upsets me that other people are watching my every move across the country. I feel like I am constantly watched, judged and kept deep in a data base under whatever files the government has categorized me in.
The concept behind my work was a collab with AI in fighting against the secrecy of our government spying on us. More specifically the inspiration came from Edward Snowden, a whistleblower who exposed the secrets of the U.S. government and their ways of spying on their citizens. I used found images on the web where I imported the raw data into Audacity to data bend each composition to make my own images, where I then would export the raw data and turn them into gifs. I then generated videos with AI and edited the entire set in Premier Pro and audio.
