Artist Statement:

For this assignment I chose to mimic a Sci-Fi sculpture in Blender using the artist "Beeple" as inspiration. I used a variety of tools, brushes, materials, and models to create three abstract, zombie, alien-like heads in a jar. I started with three separate meshes and molded them into a creepy look. I proceeded to add a new mesh for the cords connecting the heads. Once I had the heads and cords how I liked, I used texture paint to bring my work some further detail. I started with a simple rectangle, then extruded the shape and stretched it in the sculpting mode. I added a bumpy texture to give it a creepy, surreal look.

For the cylinder, I started with a simple rectangle, rounded the top with the bevel tool and then hollowed out the inside. I added a simple circular base for the bottom on the cylinder and gave it a metal material. I then added a cracked glass material to my cylinder. I worked on manipulating the nodes to make the glass appear more transparent. I started to brainstorm what I could add next to make my work feel more alive.

Once finished and my objects were joined together, I wanted to dive deeper into Blender by exploring camera animation, lighting effects, and models to bring my work to life. I started out by adding a floor, a table, and two wall models into my layout. Once I had each model and sculpture carefully positioned into my layout, I adjusted the lighting and the camera setup. I animated the camera over 10 seconds to give a slow preview of my model, left to right. I then rendered my camera animation and it turned out well, although it took a few attempts.
